Turkey Visa for UAE Residents: e-Visa or Sticker Visa?

Turkey visa for UAE residents depends on the passport you hold, not on your UAE residence visa. UAE citizens do not need a visa for Türkiye for stays of up to 90 days in any 180-day period. Expats living in the UAE follow the rule for their own nationality: some are visa-free, some can get an e-Visa online, and some need a visa from a Turkish mission.

The trap is the “conditional” e-Visa. Nationals of countries such as India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and the Philippines can use the e-Visa only if they hold a valid Schengen, US, UK or Irish visa or residence permit. A UAE residence permit is not on that list. So an Indian or Pakistani national living in Dubai with only a UAE residence visa cannot use the e-Visa. They must apply for a sticker visa at the Turkish mission in the UAE.

The Turkish Consulate General in Dubai says sticker visa applications are submitted in person at VFS Global centres in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. For e-Visas, the only official website is evisa.gov.tr. The rest of this guide explains each route, the documents the Consulate lists, and what to do if your application is refused.

Key points

  • UAE passport holders: visa-free for up to 90 days in any 180-day period.
  • Expats in the UAE: your nationality decides whether you are visa-free, e-Visa eligible or need a sticker visa.
  • A UAE residence permit does not qualify you for the conditional e-Visa. Only a valid Schengen, US, UK or Irish visa or residence permit does.
  • Sticker visas in the UAE: in person at VFS Global centres in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
  • e-Visa: only through evisa.gov.tr, and only for tourism or commerce.

Turkey Visa for UAE Residents: The Three Routes

Every Turkey visa for UAE residents falls into one of three routes. Find your passport on the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs visa page and you will know which one applies to you.

  1. Visa-free. Your nationality is exempt for a set number of days. You travel with your passport only.
  2. e-Visa. You apply online at evisa.gov.tr before you fly. For some nationalities this is open to everyone; for others it is conditional on a Schengen, US, UK or Irish document.
  3. Sticker visa. You apply to the Turkish mission. In the UAE, that means an appointment and an in-person application at VFS Global.

Your UAE residence status does not move you from one route to another. It matters only at the sticker visa stage, where the Consulate asks for a copy of your UAE residence visa.

UAE Citizens: Visa-Free for 90 Days

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs states that UAE ordinary and official passport holders are exempt from visa for up to 90 days in any 180-day period. No e-Visa and no sticker visa is needed for a short visit.

So for Emiratis, a Turkey visa for UAE residents is not needed at all for short trips. The 90 days are counted across a rolling 180-day window. If you plan to stay longer, you need a residence permit, not a longer visa. The Ministry says visitors staying longer than 90 days should apply for a short-term residence permit at the Provincial Directorate of Migration Management.

Expats in the UAE: Your Passport Decides

Most people searching “Turkey visa UAE” are not Emiratis. They are expats from South Asia, the Philippines, Africa, Europe and elsewhere. For them, the answer on a Turkey visa for UAE residents starts with nationality, and the Turkey visa UAE question is really a question about their own passport.

  • Visa-free nationalities travel on their passport alone, within the day limit the Ministry lists for their country.
  • Standard e-Visa nationalities apply online at evisa.gov.tr.
  • Conditional e-Visa nationalities can apply online only if they hold a valid Schengen, US, UK or Irish visa or residence permit.
  • Everyone else applies for a sticker visa through the Turkish mission.

The Ministry also notes that the e-Visa is only valid when the purpose of travel is tourism or commerce. Work, study and other purposes need a visa from a Turkish mission.

Why a UAE Residence Permit Does Not Unlock the e-Visa

This is the point most agency websites blur. On the Ministry’s page, the conditional e-Visa is tied to one specific list of documents: a valid visa or residence permit from a Schengen member state, the USA, the UK or Ireland. The UAE is not on that list.

So for a Turkey visa for UAE residents from a conditional country, the UAE residence visa helps only with a sticker visa application. It does not make you e-Visa eligible.

The Ministry’s page lists the conditional e-Visa rule for these nationalities (check the full entry for your country, because some add age limits or other conditions):

  • Afghanistan, Algeria, Bangladesh, Cape Verde, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea
  • India, Iraq, Libya, Nepal, Pakistan, Palestine
  • Philippines, Senegal, Sri Lanka, Yemen

Some entries add conditions. Egyptian ordinary passport holders aged 15 to 45 need the supporting document and must fly with Turkish Airlines, AJet, Pegasus, Egypt Air or Air Cairo; those under 15 or over 45 can get an e-Visa without the extra condition. For Algeria the rule covers ages 15 to 18 and 35 to 50, for Iraq ages 15 to 50, and for Libya ages 16 to 45.

Turkey Visa for UAE Residents from India and Pakistan

Indian and Pakistani nationals ask most often about a Turkey visa for UAE residents, and their rules are almost identical.

Indian nationals. The Ministry states that Indian ordinary, special and service passport holders need a visa. Those holding a valid Schengen, US, UK or Irish visa or residence permit can get a one-month, single-entry e-Visa online if they meet the conditions. An Indian national in Dubai with only a UAE residence visa must apply for a sticker visa. More detail: Turkey visa for Indians.

Pakistani nationals. Pakistani ordinary passport holders need a visa. With a valid Schengen, US, UK or Irish visa or residence permit, they can get a one-month, single-entry e-Visa online. Without one, a UAE resident must apply for a sticker visa. More detail: Turkey e-Visa for Pakistani citizens.

The same logic applies to Bangladeshi, Sri Lankan, Nepali and Filipino ordinary passport holders living in the UAE: without a Schengen, US, UK or Irish document, their Turkey visa for UAE residents is a sticker visa.

Turkey Visa from Dubai: Applying for a Sticker Visa

If you need a sticker visa, you apply in the UAE. The Turkish Consulate General in Dubai announced that sticker visa applications are submitted in person to VFS Global centres in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, not at the Embassy or Consulate General. Its notice also says no consular application is possible without an online appointment.

The Consulate’s 2026 visa fee notice still directs visa matters to VFS Global. The Consulate itself does not take applications or answer questions about pending applications.

A short checklist for a Turkey visa from Dubai or Abu Dhabi:

  1. Confirm on the Ministry page that your nationality needs a visa and that you are not e-Visa eligible.
  2. Book an appointment on the VFS Global website for Turkey in the UAE.
  3. Prepare the documents listed below.
  4. Attend the VFS Global centre in person.
  5. Apply early. The Ministry recommends applying at least one month before your planned travel.

Documents the Consulate Lists

For a Turkey visa for UAE residents applying in person, the Turkish Consulate General in Dubai publishes this tourist visa document list:

  • A completed and signed application form.
  • Two passport photos, 5 cm x 6 cm, white background, not stapled.
  • Your original passport. For a single-entry visa it must be valid for at least 180 days at the time of application. For a multiple-entry visa, its validity must be at least 90 days longer than the visa you ask for.
  • A copy of your passport and your valid UAE residence visa.
  • Copies of any previous Turkish visas.
  • Copies of your return flight booking and hotel reservation.
  • An original, stamped bank statement for the last three months.
  • A salary certificate and a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from your sponsor. Company owners add a copy of the trade licence.
  • For children under 18: both parents present, or an NOC signed by both parents with copies of their passports.
  • A travel agency letter if an agency organises the trip, and an invitation letter if the Consulate asks for one.

Business visitors add an NOC showing their position, the UAE company trade licence, an invitation letter from the Turkish company, and the Turkish company’s trade registry documents.

The list refers to residence in Dubai and the Northern Emirates; Abu Dhabi residents should confirm the right centre when booking.

Passport Validity and Length of Stay

The Ministry advises travellers to hold a passport valid for at least six months from the date of arrival. Under Law No. 6458, the passport must be valid for at least 60 days beyond the duration of stay. Whatever route your Turkey visa for UAE residents takes, plan for the stricter rule.

Visa and visa-free stays are short stays. If you want to stay in Türkiye longer than 90 days, the route is a short-term residence permit, not a new visa.

Fees and Processing Time

The Turkish Consulate General in Dubai publishes the sticker visa fees for a Turkey visa for UAE residents in UAE dirhams. Its 2026 visa fee notice (7 January 2026) lists:

  • Single entry: AED 225
  • Multiple entry: AED 700
  • Single transit: AED 225
  • Double transit: AED 450

VFS Global may charge its own service fee on top. The e-Visa fee for your nationality is shown on evisa.gov.tr during the application; use only that website.

On timing, the Consulate’s visa document notice says that once the initial application is approved, processing takes 4 to 7 working days, and it strongly recommends applying three weeks before travel. The Ministry’s general guidance recommends applying at least one month before your planned trip, so the safer plan for a Turkey visa for UAE residents is to apply a month ahead.

If Your Turkey Visa Is Refused

If your Turkey visa for UAE residents is refused, read the stated grounds before you reapply, because the same file will usually get the same answer. Our guide to the Turkey visa refusal letter explains what each ground means and what to fix.

If you have past refusals, a restriction code, or a trip with an unusual purpose, have the file checked before you apply. An immigration lawyer in Turkey can review it and, where needed, challenge a decision.

Turkey Visa for UAE Residents: FAQ

Which countries can I visit with a UAE residence visa — is Turkey one of them?

Not on the residence visa alone. For a Turkey visa for UAE residents, the UAE document is not a qualifying one. Türkiye’s conditional e-Visa accepts only a valid Schengen, US, UK or Irish visa or residence permit. If your nationality needs a visa, a UAE residence visa means applying for a sticker visa through VFS Global in the UAE.

How much bank balance is required for a Turkey tourist visa?

There is no official minimum. The Turkish Consulate General in Dubai’s document list asks for an original, stamped bank statement for the last three months, but it does not set a minimum balance. Figures quoted on agency websites are not official.

Do US citizens need a visa for Turkey?

The Ministry states that US ordinary passport holders are exempt from visa for up to 90 days in any 180-day period. US official passport holders need a visa. This applies whether the US citizen lives in the UAE or anywhere else.

Can I get a Turkey visa on arrival?

Only some nationalities can, and the Ministry’s country entries say which. Indian and Pakistani ordinary passport holders are listed as needing a visa, with the e-Visa available only under the conditions above. If your entry does not mention a visa at the border, get your e-Visa or sticker visa before you fly.

How much does a Turkish visa cost?

The cost of a Turkey visa for UAE residents depends on your route. For a sticker visa applied for in the UAE, the Turkish Consulate General in Dubai lists AED 225 for a single entry and AED 700 for a multiple entry in its 2026 fee notice; VFS Global may add a service fee. The e-Visa fee depends on your nationality and appears on evisa.gov.tr when you apply.
