Looking for an İzmir lawyer who works in English? E-Law Turkey is the practice of Av. Gökhan Vural, a lawyer registered with the İzmir Bar Association, with an office in Konak. We help foreigners with residence permits, property purchases, Turkish citizenship and sworn translation, and we handle the whole matter in English.
English-Speaking Lawyer in İzmir
Most foreigners who contact us have the same problem: the Turkish authorities, the land registry and the courts work in Turkish, and they need someone who can explain each step clearly and act for them. As an English-speaking lawyer in İzmir, Gökhan Vural advises you in English, prepares your file in Turkish and deals with the authorities on your behalf.
He is also a notary-authorised sworn translator for English and Turkish. That means the legal work and the translation of your documents can be done in the same office, without passing your papers between a lawyer and a separate translation agency.
For clients who speak Farsi, we work with a Farsi interpreter.
What Our İzmir Law Firm Handles for Foreigners
Residence permits at the İzmir migration office
We prepare your residence permit file, submit the application, accompany you to your appointment at the İzmir Provincial Directorate of Migration Management and, if the application is refused, take the case to court. For the full process and permit types, see our immigration lawyer in Turkey page.
Buying property in İzmir, Çeşme, Alaçatı and Urla
We check the title deed and the property’s legal status before you pay, review the contract and represent you through the transfer at the land registry. We act only for the buyer and take no commission from estate agents, developers or sellers. More on this on our property lawyer in Turkey page.
Turkish citizenship
We handle citizenship applications, including citizenship by investment, from the first document check to the final decision. See our Turkish citizenship lawyer page.
Sworn translation and apostille
We provide notarised English–Turkish translation of passports, diplomas, court decisions and other official documents, and we arrange apostilles for documents that can be apostilled. Details on our translator in Turkey page.
Choosing Between Lawyers in İzmir: What to Check
- Bar registration. Every practising lawyer in Turkey is registered with a bar association. Ask for the lawyer’s bar and registration details.
- Who the lawyer works for. In property purchases, a lawyer recommended by the agent or developer may not be independent. Ask whether the lawyer receives any commission from the other side.
- Language. Make sure the lawyer can explain the documents you sign in a language you understand.
- Clear fees. Ask how the fee is calculated before the work starts.
İzmir Attorney, Lawyer or Solicitor?
Many clients search for an İzmir attorney or a Turkish solicitor. In Turkey there is a single professional title: avukat. There is no separate attorney, barrister or solicitor title; an avukat gives legal advice, drafts documents and represents clients in court. When you instruct us, you are instructing an avukat registered with the İzmir Bar Association.
If You Are Not in İzmir
Our office is in İzmir, but we take cases across Turkey, including İstanbul and Antalya. You can book an online consultation, and many matters can be handled without you travelling to İzmir.
Fees
Fees are set per case, after we review your situation and documents. We do not publish a fixed tariff, because the work involved in a residence permit renewal, a property purchase or a court case differs greatly.
